Jurerê Tradicional: beaches, getting here and when to come

Both apartments are at Rua Luiz Rampa, 70, in Jurerê Tradicional, on the north side of Santa Catarina Island in Florianópolis. The sand is 50 m away, at the end of the street. This page covers what helps you plan: the beaches, how to get here and what each season is like.

The beaches

Jurerê Tradicional, at the end of the street

From the building’s gate to the sand is a 50 m walk.

Each apartment comes with free parking, so the car can stay put for your whole stay. You walk to the beach.

Jurerê Tradicional vs. Jurerê Internacional

Jurerê is one beach with two neighbouring sides along the same shore. The apartments are on the Tradicional side.

Jurerê Internacional is a planned neighbourhood, open to the public, which according to its developer runs its own water, sewage, security and maintenance. It is where the beach clubs and the Jurerê Open Shopping centre are. In 2009, Jurerê Internacional became the first beach in Brazil to earn a Blue Flag.

In short: if you are coming for the beach club parties, they happen in Internacional; daily life at the apartment is in Tradicional.

Praia do Forte

Praia do Forte is where you reach the Fortaleza de São José da Ponta Grossa, the only one of the three forts run by the federal university (UFSC) that you can get to by land (see “Practical tips”).
